Hello,
I attended the last WARUG meeting and noticed several folks who
are implementing 7.5 and I wanted to query your responses on some
findings that I have uncovered with Approval Mappings form and AP:Role
form.
On the Approval Mappings form is a selection field that allows
you to select the type of approver for the mapping, with values:
1. Individual
2. Group (Support)
3. Inherent Group/Role
Inherent Group/Role allows you to select any of the Change
assignment groupings to be considered as an approver (Individuals with
Change Approver function role within the group).
The 1 item that seems to be missing that was there from previous
versions is AP:Role created groups. I understand the premise of the
AP:Role form is to capture those individuals with change management
functional roles and allows the approval engine and change assignment
grouping menus to use these system created records for workflow
functionality. But...if I create an AP:Role such as "Tech Managers" and
place valid approvers within the role from other support groups
designations. I don't see how out of the box to use the new role in the
Approval Mappings form.
I have come up with a workaround using the OOTB functionality
but it is cumbersome and requires a small add-on customization to the
Support Group form. I'd be interested if others have come to this
finding and/or know of a way to do this that I may be missing.
Thanks,
